Where to find it
Settings → Advanced → Entry Notes.
How to change the style or turn notes off
- Expand the Advanced section in Settings.
- Open Entry Notes.
- Either pick a different style (live preview shows how it sounds), or toggle Enable Notes off if you'd rather a clean entry.
The eight styles
| Style | Voice | Example |
|---|---|---|
| The Old Friend | warm, grounded | "You've handled worse." |
| The Stoic | calm, practical | "What's in your control here?" |
| The Poet | imagistic | "A quiet bloom of intention." |
| The Wit | dry, playful | "Bold move for a Tuesday." |
| The Philosopher | reflective | "Every choice reveals meaning." |
| Zen Master | spacious | "Already where you need to be." |
| The Scientist | curious, evidence-minded | "What shifted this week?" |
| The Contrarian | questioning | "Whose rule is that?" |
Two extra toggles
Both only matter if Entry Notes are on. Both are on by default: tellmint opens with a slightly softened, occasionally varied voice, and you can dial that back if you'd rather the style stay rigid.
- Let mood soften the style: on by default. When an entry sounds heavy, Mint picks a gentler variant of your chosen style.
- Mix it up sometimes: on by default. About 10% of entries use a different style for variety.
Good to know
- Notes are short. They aim for a single sentence that adds a little warmth without being preachy.
- Notes are commentary, not advice. They won't tell you what to do, they respond to your entry like a good friend reading over your shoulder.
- Turning notes off is fine. Many people prefer a clean entry. Leaving them off costs nothing.
- You can change style any time. Past entries keep whatever note they were generated with; future entries use the new style.
