Where to find it
- Bottom navigation → Reflect (on Pro and Max). The icon is a small sparkle.
- From any entry → Reflect with Mint button on the "Reflect on this" card near the bottom of the detail screen.
On Free plan the Reflect tab is visible but dimmed, and the entry card button reads Unlock Reflect: tapping either opens an upsell rather than a chat.
Ask one thing now
If it's your first chat and you don't know what to say, copy any of these:
- "What did I worry about most this week?"
- "Sum up my last 10 entries in three lines."
- "Do I have any tasks I keep pushing back?"
- "Remind me what I said about [a person, project, or place] last month."
- "Make me a task to call the doctor on Friday morning."
Mint will search your journal, answer in plain language, and (where useful) link the entries it pulled from.
What you can do
- Send a text message. Mint replies with a thoughtful answer and (where useful) cites specific entries.
- Send a voice message. Recording auto-transcribes into the input field and you can review before sending. Voice messages stop automatically after 60 seconds.
- Tap a cited entry in a reply to jump to its detail screen.
- Tap a follow-up chip below a reply to continue the conversation.
- Wait for Mint to think. Chat is not streaming, when you send, the input shows a loading state and the full reply lands when the request finishes. There's no "stop generation" button.
- Reflect with Mint from an entry pre-loads that entry as the chat's context, the server re-fetches the authoritative copy so the context is always current.
- Give feedback: thumbs up/down on any reply, with an optional reason for a down-vote.
What Mint can do on your behalf
During a conversation Mint can:
- Search your entries and cite the most relevant ones.
- Create a new thought or task when you ask.
- Complete a task.
- Edit an entry's title, due date, importance, or completion state.
- Delete an entry.
- Save a memory: a durable fact about you ("vegetarian", "prefers mornings", "partner's name is Joana") that future recordings and chats will know. See Mint Memory.
These actions reflect immediately in the feed, so you don't have to refresh.
Good to know
- Free users have zero chat messages per month. Chat is a Pro/Max feature. Upgrading unlocks it instantly.
- Chat is not streaming. Mint takes a few seconds to think, then you see the full reply at once.
- When you hit your monthly chat limit, the input is disabled and tellmint shows a friendly "You've used all your Reflect messages for this cycle, they'll reset on [date]" banner. Upgrading is offered if you're on Pro.
- Responses are personal, not medical or legal advice. If you ask for either, Mint will gently redirect.
- Your direct profile (nickname, about-me, people, places, interests) is always authoritative in chat. If your profile says "vegetarian" and an old memory says "loves steak", the profile wins.
