Where to find it
Settings → Notifications (plus a few toggles under Advanced).
The toggles
Task Reminders
- What it does: Enables or disables task-due notifications.
- Default: On, if notification permission is granted.
- Related permission: Notification permission. On Android, Schedule exact alarms is required for precise time reminders; without it, reminders fall back to the morning of the due date.
Exact reminders (Android only)
- What it does: Asks the OS for permission to fire reminders at a precise time instead of "sometime in the morning".
- When it appears: Only if you haven't yet granted it. Once granted, the row disappears.
- Can be revoked: Yes, from Android's device settings → Apps → tellmint.
Daily Digest
- What it does: A morning recap at a time you choose.
- Default: Off.
- Subtitle: "Every day at HH:MM, tap to change" when on.
- See Daily and weekly digests.
Weekly Digest
- Where: Settings → Advanced → Notifications → Weekly Digest (the Advanced section is collapsed by default, tap it to expand).
- What it does: A weekly wrap on the day and time you choose.
- Default: Off.
- See Daily and weekly digests.
Silence Acknowledgments
- Where: Settings → Advanced → Notifications → Silence Acknowledgments (same sub-section as Weekly Digest).
- What it does: A gentle nudge if you haven't recorded in a few days (three by default).
- Default: On. Turn off here if you'd rather tellmint stay quiet during breaks.
Pattern Nudges
- Where: Settings → More settings → Personalization → Pattern nudges.
- What it does: Very occasional notifications when tellmint spots a recurring pattern in your entries.
- Default: On. Turn off if the nudges feel too frequent.
Notification strength
From Settings → Notifications → Test notification strength you can send a preview at three levels:
- Low: small vibration, no sound.
- Normal: sound and vibration.
- High: banner with stronger vibration.
This also sets the strength for task reminders.
Tip: after tapping test, background the app, Android batches notifications and many won't appear if you stay in the app.
Permission status banners
- If notification permission is granted → no banner.
- If it's denied temporarily → tellmint will ask again the next time you enable something notification-related.
- If it's permanently denied → a red banner appears: "Notifications are off. Turn them on in device settings to get reminders and digests."
Good to know
- Reminders survive reboots: the scheduled time is stored, not just a live alarm handle.
- Digests are inexact (so the OS can batch them), delivery can be 5–15 minutes late.
- Reminders fire at local device time. Traveling to another time zone shifts them.
- MIUI / HyperOS devices (Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco) sometimes silently kill background alarms to save battery. You may need to whitelist tellmint in the device's battery optimization settings.
Plan & limits
No plan gating. All notification types work on every plan.
