Tasks and reminders

Entries typed as Task carry due dates, recurrence, and optional reminders. You can mark them complete, snooze them, or let tellmint nag you at exactly the right moment.

Where to find it

  • Feed → Tasks tab: filtered list of all tasks.
  • Entry detail screen: full controls for one task.
  • Calendar: tasks appear on their due dates.

The Tasks tab opens on active tasks. Use Filters & options to switch between Active, Overdue, and Completed. You can also filter or sort tasks by importance. When a task filter is selected, tellmint switches to the Tasks tab and the list header changes so you can see immediately that you are viewing a filtered task list.

Creating a task

Most tasks come from recordings, just say something like "I need to pay the electricity bill by Friday" and tellmint extracts the type, title, and due date automatically. You can also switch a thought to a task from the detail screen.

Setting a due date

  • Open the entry, tap the due date field.
  • Pick a date. The task will appear on the calendar and in the Tasks tab.
  • Tap Remove to clear the date.

Recurrence

From the entry detail screen:

  • None: one-off task.
  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Yearly
  • Custom: opens a recurrence builder. Examples of patterns it can handle: every other Monday, the first weekday of each month, every weekend, every third Saturday. You pick the frequency (daily/weekly/monthly/yearly), the interval (every N), and for weekly patterns which weekdays to include.

Completing a task

  • Swipe right on the card, or tap the big check on the detail screen.
  • For recurring tasks you get a choice:
  • This one only: just today's instance.
  • This and all future: deletes every future occurrence in the series.

Reminders

Tap Set reminder on the detail screen. You'll see:

  • Cancel: no reminder.
  • Standard: notifies you in the morning of the due date. No special permission needed.
  • Exact: fires at a precise time you choose. On Android this needs the Schedule exact alarms permission. If you haven't granted it, tellmint will fall back to Standard and explain how to enable exact alarms in Settings.

Strength can be set separately (Low / Normal / High), affects vibration and banner prominence.

Snooze

When a reminder fires, the notification has a Snooze action. Snoozing clears the scheduled notification and pushes it to the time you chose. It works for standard reminders; exact reminders use the system's own snooze.

Good to know

  • Active tasks exclude old overdue tasks. This keeps today's list readable. Use the Overdue filter when you want to clean up unfinished tasks from earlier days.
  • Task order follows due date and time first. If two tasks share the same due timestamp, importance breaks the tie.
  • Reminders are not created automatically. AI extracts the due date, but you decide whether to also get a notification. This is intentional, some tasks don't need a ping.
  • Deleting a recurring task also asks "This one only" vs "All occurrences".
  • Snooze timing survives a reboot: the scheduled time is stored, not just the alarm handle.
  • Time zones: if you travel, reminders fire at the local time of your device when they're scheduled, not at the time zone where they were set.
  • Task completion is instant in the UI and confirmed with the server in the background. If the server rejects the change (rare), you'll get a small error banner and the checkmark reverts.

Plan & limits

No plan gating. Unlimited tasks and reminders on every plan.
