Your first minutes in the app
- Welcome screen: pick a nickname (optional), then tap Let's go, Continue with Google, or Continue with email. You can also start without signing in at all.
- Demo recording: record a short voice note to see how tellmint turns words into a structured entry. The demo uses the same pipeline as real recordings.
- Plan selection: see Free, Pro, and Max side by side. Free is fine to start; upgrade later from the profile sheet or settings. See Plans and pricing.
You're in the feed after that. The bottom navigation has four tabs: Feed, Calendar, Search, Reflect (the chat tab, dimmed on Free).
Guest vs. signed-in
- Guest (anonymous): You can record, view, edit, and search entries. Your data lives on the device and on the cloud under a guest identity. You cannot buy Pro or Max while anonymous, and you cannot restore purchases.
- Signed-in: Google or email magic-link. Gives you a durable account you can restore on any phone. Required for buying anything.
You can attach a real account to a guest session later without losing your data: tap your avatar in the top-right of the feed, then pick Continue with Google or Continue with email in the profile sheet.
Consent choices
During onboarding, two consent toggles are available (both off by default):
- Analytics: pseudonymous product analytics to help improve the app.
- Marketing updates: occasional emails when new features ship.
Both live in Settings → More settings → Privacy Controls after onboarding. See Privacy and consent.
Good to know
- You can redo onboarding by signing out and back in as a new account.
- The demo recording is a real entry: it's saved, shows up in the feed, and counts toward the Free monthly recording quota.
- Notification permission is asked later, not on the welcome screen, only when you try to set a reminder or enable a digest.
- Microphone permission is asked on your first recording attempt, not up front.
- If you open a magic-link on a new phone, tellmint will ask you to re-enter your email before completing sign-in.
