Where to find it
- Main button: the breathing floating action button on the feed.
- Home screen widget (Android): one-tap recording without opening the app. See Home screen widget.
What you can do
- Tap the record button to start. A waveform and timer appear.
- Tap stop (or wait for the time limit) to finish. Your entry appears in the feed within a few seconds.
- Leave the app while recording: tellmint keeps recording in the background and shows a gentle notice when you return.
- Re-record straight after stopping, the mic is pre-warmed so the next start is instant.
What AI does with your voice note
Every recording goes through a Cloud Function that extracts:
- Title: 2–8 word summary.
- Summary: a longer sentence or two.
- Type: thought or task.
- Relevant portion: the meaningful part of the transcript, trimmed of filler.
- Domain: one of nine life areas: Work, Health, Home, Relationships, Money, Learning, Fun, Meaning, Tech.
- Tags: short topical labels.
- Importance: how much this seems to matter (shown as dots on the entry card).
- Emotion: one of 42 emotions with intensity and subject. See Emotion detection.
- Due date: if you said "tomorrow", "next Friday", "by EOD", etc.
- Recurrence: if you said "every Monday", "daily", etc.
- Theme word: a single evocative keyword.
Good to know
- Your words are kept, your voice is not. The cloud stores your structured entry (title, summary, tags, emotion) and the transcript/relevant text used for search and editing. The raw audio file is not kept in cloud storage after processing.
- Your recordings stay on your phone until you remove them. They live in tellmint's private app storage — not visible to other apps, and deleted if you uninstall the app. From Settings → Storage you can Export audio recordings to save copies elsewhere (handy before uninstalling), or Delete recordings on this device to clear them (that button is blocked while uploads are still pending). tellmint only auto-removes leftover files from recordings that failed and were never saved — nothing tied to a note or task.
- Recording continues if you background the app, but if the system kills tellmint entirely the recording stops and saves whatever it captured.
- If processing fails, the entry card shows a small warning badge and you can edit it by hand or delete it.
- You can use a profile (nickname, people, places, interests) to make AI output more personal, "Dusko picks up Joana tomorrow" instead of "User picks someone up tomorrow". See Your profile.
- Screen Off / MIUI quirk: on some devices the OS silences background mic. If you record with screen off and get silent entries, turn on Developer Options → Stay awake on that device.

- Hitting the monthly limit blocks new recordings. Free users are offered Pro / Max. Pro and Max users can buy a top-up for €1.99 per 100 extra recordings.
- Monthly quota resets on your anchor date, not on the 1st of the month. Free users anchor to account creation; paid users anchor to their subscription start date.
