Permissions explained

Tellmint asks for Android permissions only when a feature needs them. You can deny optional permissions, but some features will be limited.

Microphone

Needed to record voice notes. Without microphone access, tellmint cannot capture audio.

Notifications

Used for reminders, task alerts, and optional digests. If you deny notifications, entries still save, but you will not receive reminder alerts.

Exact alarms

Used so reminders fire at the time you set. Android may show this as a separate system permission on newer versions.

Media or storage

Used for local audio handling and exports. On older Android versions this can look broader because Android's old storage model is broader. On newer Android versions, access is more scoped.

Boot completed

Used to restore scheduled reminders after your phone restarts.

Good to know

  • Permissions do not give humans access to your journal.
  • You can change permissions later in Android settings.
  • Raw audio is deleted from the cloud after processing.
  • Local audio files are cleaned automatically, and you can clear them from Settings → Storage.
